August Currently

I maybe 3 days late for currently with Oh' Boy 4th Grade, but it is technically the first Monday of the month.  Plus I am still on Summer Mode until Thursday. ;)

Listening:  I am a bit obsessed with the news.  I try to watch it every night at 5:30 Central time.  I am a big fan of ABC World News.  I also have started listening to NPR.   They tell some really interesting stories.

Loving:  This sweet face is my new puppy Lola!  She has been with me for about a week now.  She is adjusting great and beginning to show her personality.  She is so little right now, but soon she is going to be a big girl.

Thinking:  This morning I bought football tickets to the Mississippi State vs. LSU game.  I am going with a couple of my roommates from college.  Its going to be a sweet reunion and a good football game,

Wanting & Needing:  These go together.  I only have days left of my summer break.  Two to be exact, so of course, now I am wishing I had a few more days.  Don't get me wrong!  I am really excited to go back and meet my new kiddos.  My classroom is coming together very nicely.  I can't wait to share it with y'all! I just need to get motivated to work on the list I have going in my head.  Or I can at least create a list.

B2S RAK: The first day of school is always stressful.  I think anyone who is a teacher can agree.  Our job that day is get the child in the correct spot, feed them, and make sure they go home to right way.  If we can do that then the first day was a success.  I really want to make a treat for my fellow second grade teachers to have on the first day.  I am thinking something easy like homemade cookies.  Just a little something to say we made it through the first day!    Because every teacher knows during Back to School time it is important to celebrate the small victories!

July Currently

Happy July!

My summer has been great so far!  I have been doing a lot of relaxing, moving, and procrastinating. The good news: I have about 5 weeks left.  Bad News: I only have 5 weeks left.  My mind is a battle between summer mode and back to school mode.  Oh Well!   I am linking up with Oh' Boy Fourth Grade for the July Currently!

That about does it for me!  I am just going to procrastinate just a bit longer. :)

Have a Safe and Happy Fourth of July!

June Currently

Hello World!

It has been awhile...a very long time.
This past semester was long and rough.
But I am on Day 7 of summertime.
I love summer.
I especially love it as a teacher.
Its just a great time to recharge, catch up on important things (like Netflix Binges), and start thinking of the new upcoming year.

So I am back.  I am linking with Farley from Oh Boy in Fourth Grade for the June Currently!

Several Things are happening during the month of June:
1. My school is getting a new reading series, so I am working hard on creating resources ahead of time.  This is huge goal because I am a terrible procrastinator.
2. I am moving out of my parent's house and into my own space.   My new home will be about 5 minutes away from my school.  With moving into a new space comes lots of decorating ideas and new pretty stuff to buy.
3. I am starting my Masters in August.  I am working on applying and getting my stuff sent in.  I am so excited to be back in the classroom as a student.  I miss the college atmosphere.  I have also heard from lots of other teachers that you learn so much more during your Masters program than your Undergrad.
4. Don't worry!  I am making sure to make time to do absolutely nothing.    This has been one of my favorite parts.

Don't forget of link up with Farley for the June Currently.  Also, click on the photo to donate money to help towards Texas flood victims.

Sunday Scoop January 4, 2015

Happy First Sunday of 2015! I am linking up with Teaching Trio for the Sunday Scoop. :)

Have

My holiday break is over with. :(  I am sad about it, but I keep on thinking we are half a school year away from sweet, relaxing summer time! :)  I also need to get my gears together for parent-teacher conferences which is next Monday.  The kids do not come to school, but I will be meeting with my parents to discuss how their kiddos are doing.  I like parent-teacher conferences, but they make me so nervous! Tell me I am not the only one.  Since school starts back up again, I need to start thinking of some healthy, lunches to bring.  Guess that's a good excuse to go on Pinterest!

Hope

I am really hoping to start working on my Flat Stanley unit for my kiddos.  Our class set of books are not in yet, so we have some time before we begin. I am hoping to get it done by next week.

Happy

The new season of Downton Abbey is back! I got all caught up during the break, so I am set to watch the new season.  This show is one of my favorites.  Are you a fan?

Well, that is it from me! I hope you have a great week back!

January 2015 Currently

Happy New Year!  Can ya'll believe that it is 2015 (or almost)?  I am linking up with Farley from Oh' Boy 4th Grade for January 2015 currently.

Listening: I  am watching the Orange Bowl where the MSU bulldogs are playing a pretty good game against Georgia Tech.  I am ringing my cowbell for a W! Hail State!

Loving: I just wrapped up 2014 by grading at Starbucks which was my goal for today.  I am DONE as in grades have been placed on test papers to go home with students, grades are in my written grade book and online.  Its a pretty good feeling!   Being done also means I don't have to worry about grading after I get back from being out of town on Sunday.  I am visiting one of my sweet college friends in Tuscaloosa.  I can't wait!

Thinking, Wanting, Needing: Even though I have 4 days left of break, I am already trying to think ahead for next week.  Everyone goes back to school on Monday even the kids, so I need to get my butt in school gear!  We are starting a new unit when we get back on Flat Stanley and Community Helpers.  I want to create a couple of things to go with it.  I also just need to be prepared for Monday so I can relax on Sunday when I get back.

While out shopping yesterday, I bought this sweet little planner with a wonderful saying on the front.

It's going to become my motto for 2015.  I want to spend this year getting healthier and being more productive with life in general.  I want to start on my Master's Degree this summer.  I want expand my horizons with life in general especially this blogging teaching world.  I have a lot I want to do this year!  I can't wait to get started!

Sunday Scoop 12-28-14

First off its been a while since I last blogged.  It feels good to be back!

Second, my blog has been given a major face lift thanks to L. Paull Designs for All.  I love it! It is bright and colorful.  It is more me, but more on that later.

I am here today to link up with Teaching Trio for their Sunday Scoop linky party.

I still have a week of winter break left!   Thank goodness, but I have spent the first week being a lazy bum.  Lots of pajama days and Netflix binges.  I am currently watching Sons of Anarchy.  Still, its time to get motivated.   I still need to finish grading writing and final assessments then enter those in the grade book.  My lesson plans I turned in before break were not up to par, so I need to update those.  I also need to finish reading the first book of Flat  Stanley.  My second graders are going to start reading it in January.  It should be fun!

I do want to spend part of this week starting on a fun read such as Gone Girl or The Night Circus. Plus those after Christmas sales are still calling my name.  I might go out shopping sometime this week.

Another reason, I need to be motivated this week is because next weekend I am headed to the great state of Alabama.  I am going to catch up with my college roommate and best friend Amanda.  This sweet friend got engaged in October.  I cannot wait to see her and the ring in person.

Guess I better go start on that grading.  Happy Sunday!

October Currently- First Post EVER!!!

I created this blog almost two months ago, but I have done no posts yet.  So I decided the easiest thing to do link up with Oh Boy 4 Grade Currently,  I have read a lot of currently posts over the past year since I started teaching and really wanted to do one myself.  Might as well jump in!

Listening: Music scores from movies and televisions shows not only help me to concentrate at my current task, but they also make things really exciting too!   Especially when its a score from the TV show Sherlock, I am a detective looking for the correct answer.

Loving: Tomorrow is FRIDAY!! WHOOT WHOOT!!!!   I really do love my job and my sweet kiddos, but this week they have been wild!   We were fantastic with the sub on Monday.  Great Tuesday! Good Wednesday....but today.....YIKES!!! It was not a happy day....hopefully, tomorrow will be better!   If not at least I got the weekend...

Thinking: Next week is week 9!  The last week of the 1st nine weeks which flew by!  We will be spending a lot of time next week reviewing for nine week's test, finishing up projects, and reading to make AR goals.  Its going to be crazy, but its going to get done.

Wanting: Amazon delivered a new pile of children's books at my doorstep today.  I really want to look....but I can't cause I have to grade.  Just look at it!  Plus I have more coming.....

Needing: I really need to finish up grading and planning out next week.  Our lesson plans are due Thursday, but I like creating a checklist of things to copy and create for the weekend.  Organization has been my number one goal this year as a second year teacher.

Trick or Treat:  Its a TREAT!!!
My Read Aloud Scoot game is going to be free through the weekend!  My students will be using it next week as a part of the independent reading center.  It goes with any fiction read aloud and covers the 5 w questions and how.  Click the link below to check it out!

Thanks for visiting my blog!   It is not the best looking blog around, but by the new year that will change. :)

Cheers!
